Campus Promotions

The Campus Promotions (CP) Manager reports to the President and works closely with the CEO in order to develop and execute strategies that enable Campus Promotions to become the preferred source of promotional services for local and national companies that market to Cornell students, and at times the Ithaca community. To do so, the CP manager is responsible for setting the business' strategic objectives, coordinating HR initiatives and managing the processes of sales, production, and distribution. The CP Manager position requires 15-20 hours a week during the school year, and 30-40 hours a week during the summer.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Analyze CP's competitive position in terms of value proposition, pricing and operations
  • Continually be opportunistic and aware in terms of improving the business and its position
  • Continue to streamline processes for efficiency and inject value into products.

Human Resources Management

  • Adjust and develop compensation plans that motivate sales, production and distribution personnel in a cost-effective manner
  • Establish procedures to ensure that all CP personnel are performing their duties as required
  • Train all CP employees and support them during their time at SAI
  • Act as a guide and mentor for assistant management

Sales

  • Conduct professional sales contacts via phone calls, letters, email, walk-in visits and scheduled appointments.
  • Prepare sales collateral as a tool to pitch sales to different clientele for the difference services.
  • Access to a car is strongly suggested for Account Managers but is almost a certain requirement for the CP Manager who may on occasion have to travel to client sites.
  • Respond quickly to requests from customers, and performs high-quality work for customers in an expedient manner.
  • Maintain and improve Campus Promotions’ reputation among students and businesses with top customer service.

Production

  • Understand technical issues relating to publishing (electronic and print) well enough to effectively interact with the Graphic Design team and printing vendors.
  • Analyze offerings of service providers in order to select a cost-effective and reliable printing vendor.

Distribution

  • Organize plans for distribution that are efficient, effective, and done at a reasonable cost.

Coalition-building

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with contacts at key enabling entities such as Campus Life and the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs.

General Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall benefit of SAI by participating in meetings, office hours, team projects, and corporate recruiting, orientation, training, and by aiding other businesses in peak times.
  • Honor all deadlines and address all action plans delegated by the President and CEO of SAI, and report to them accordingly.
  • Ensure a smooth transition for the business successor by maintaining accurate and detailed records of business transactions as well as the issues relating to and resolution of any problems that occurred during the manager's tenure.
  • Update the training manual to ensure its relevance for the incoming manager.Foster long-term business growth and development.
