Hired Hands

The manager of Hired Hands Moving Company is responsible for overseeing the delivery of cost effective, high quality moving and packing services to students, businesses and local residents. The manager reports to the president and is expected to seek out all available resources for consultation to aide in fulfilling his or her duties. Maintaining a good working relationship with the Department of Transportation is a key function of this position. The average time commitment is 10 to 20 hours per week during off-peak seasons, and 25 to 40 hours per week during the summer peak.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Operations

  • Carefully plan, analyze and strategize for peak season
  • Create strategic plan to handle peaks
  • Schedule and execute moves with customers and employees
  • Measure demand and capacity and plan accordingly

Customers Service

  • Respond to customer inquiries in a timely, courteous, and helpful manner
  • Handle claims and complaints quickly and fairly
  • Make sure each customer has a great experience

Financial

  • Work with president and previous manager to create sound budget
  • Maintain fiscal responsibility by meeting/exceeding budgeted income
  • Track accounts receivable; implement policy and procedure to enforce timely payment
  • Provide financial updates and forecasts to the president

Equipment

  • Facilitate necessary repairs and maintenance
  • Ensure that equipment meets high standard of safety for employees and customer property
  • Constantly evaluate equipment inventory and purchase new items when appropriate

Marketing

  • Develop an effective marketing plan to attract both customers and employees
  • Evaluate data compiled from customer feedback, use to improve marketing plan
  • Analyze competitors and respond accordingly
  • Continue to build brand recognition

Human Resources

  • Train employees on all processes and procedures, customer service and safety.
  • Effectively delegate responsibility to assistant managers and employees
  • Document and organize all process and procedure for future managers

General Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall benefit of SAI by participating in meetings, office hours, team projects, and corporate recruiting, orientation, training, and by aiding other businesses in peak times.
  • Honor all deadlines and address all action plans delegated by the President and CEO of SAI, and report to them accordingly.
  • Ensure a smooth transition for the business successor by maintaining accurate and detailed records of business transactions as well as the issues relating to and resolution of any problems that occurred during the manager's tenure.
  • Update the training manual to ensure its relevance for the incoming manager.Foster long-term business growth and development.
