Student Officers

The student executive management team at SAI consists of the President and the Chief Financial Officer. Both positions provide a tremendous learning experience defined by the significant empowerment students are given as executive officers of the company.

The President runs the Operations division of SAI, and in this role he or she is accountable for the profit/loss of SAI’s six businesses divisions. In this position, the President directly manages between 10 and 15 student managers. In addition to operational responsibilities, the President actively contributes to the Company’s long term strategy as a member of its Board of Directors. The President is selected annually in August, and subsequently begins a training period of three months. At the conclusion of this period, the President serves in his official capacity for twelve months, from January 1-December 31. The President of SAI is generally selected from a pool of internal candidates. The Vice President, in conjunction with the Presidents, oversees the Operations division of SAI. In this position, he or she will have direct responsibility for oversight of one agency and will be responsible for managing operational initiatives of all SAI businesses. The Vice President is generally selected from a pool of internal candidates and must have a detailed knowledge of all the business and the culture of SAI. The Vice President is recruited and selected annually in September generally from a pool of internal candidates. The Chief Financial Officer runs the Treasury Department of SAI, which supports all operations of SAI on financial issues. The CFO works closely with the President, the Vice President, as well as the student managers to review and analyze financial results, to lead the annual process of creating agency operating budgets, and to provide financial analysis on an as needed basis. The CFO also works with the Audit Committee of the BOD to ensure strong internal accounting controls and procedures, as well as compliance with relevant regulations. The CFO is recruited and selected annually in September from candidates both inside and outside of SAI. Candidates need a strong financial and accounting background to be considered for the position. After two months of training, the CFO serves in his official capacity for twelve months, from January 1-December 31. In some cases, however, arrangements can be made so that the CFO can take a two-month leave to participate in a summer internship.
