Why SAI?
Student Agencies attracts a wide array of motivated, eager to learn students to its management positions. Students of all class year from all seven undergraduate colleges are encouraged to apply for management positions. No business experience is necessary: Students with all types of career goals apply the management and problem solving skills they learn at SAI to future endeavors.
So, why work at SAI?
Experiential Learning. Working at SAI gives you the opportunity to apply the skills you learn in the classroom in a real world setting. Managers are responsible for motivating staff, analyzing financials, and satisfying customer demands while learning to create a strong business with significant returns. Such exposure to real business issues fosters a resilience and competence that is unique as a Cornell undergraduate.
Personal Development. Managers run their businesses in a challenging, but supportive, environment. After being hired, managers participate in an extensive training program to develop knowledge in marketing, budgeting, and customer service. The CEO, President, and Johnson School Fellows also provide continuous coaching and training throughout the year. Success at SAI is measured not only on success measured by financial metrics, but also success measured by personal development.
Earn Significant Compensation. Managers earn between $10,000-$18,000 annually. Compensation is composed of a weekly salary and performance-based bonuses, with the potential for profit sharing.
Provide Valuable Products and Services to the Community. The businesses that comprise Student Agencies provide valuable products and services to both the Cornell and Greater Ithaca communities. Whether managing Big Red Shipping & Storage (Cornell’s exclusive summer storage vendor), or working as the business manager of the Cornellian Yearbook, all of SAI’s businesses make positive contributions to all involved stakeholders.
Position Yourself For Employment After Cornell. Students go on to various careers from SAI, but all find that their experience at SAI was highly leveraged — both in the recruiting process, as well as in their new roles. Recent managers have gone on to work in Investment Banking, Consulting, General Management, and Hospitality, as well as to attend world-class graduate schools in Business and Law. SAI also has a robust network of alumni/ae that provide advice throughout the job placement process.
